Peace Projects Gain Support from
Celebrities, Civic Groups, and the Public

Camera crews and journalists packed the June 12 press conference promoting a Peace Palace and a peace-creating group for Los Angeles. ABC, NBC, and FOX TV networks covered the event, as did the Associated Press, U.S. News & World Report, the Los Angeles Times, People, In Touch, and the Hollywood Reporter.

On June 12, Hollywood film director David Lynch, actor Stephen Collins, and actresses Laura Dern, Heather Graham, and Laura Harring joined Institute director Dr. John Hagelin at a Los Angeles press conference promoting a local “Peace Palace”—a building to house a permanent group of 100-200 peace-creating experts for the Los Angeles area. Dr. Hagelin presented groundbreaking scientific research showing the positive influence of such peace-creating groups on social trends. The Hollywood celebrities voiced their strong support for building the Peace Palace and also spoke of the profound personal benefits they had gained through their practice of Transcendental Meditation, one of the peace-creating technologies to be used in the Peace Palace to bring harmony and coherence to Los Angeles.

Associated Press photographs of the Hollywood stars appeared in newspapers worldwide, and news about the Peace Palaces spread quickly around the globe.

Dr. Hagelin continues to seek such support for his proven peace initiatives through presentations to government leaders, celebrities, philanthropists, peace activists, and “cultural creatives” nationwide, since the generosity of even one wealthy individual or organization could immediately create lasting world peace. If you have personal contacts with anyone who could help provide significant funding for these projects, please contact the Institute today.

Dr. Hagelin also continues to give many presentations at large public conferences across the U.S. In Fall 2003, he will chair “Creating Permanent World Peace: A Proven New Approach,” a public symposium in southern California hosted by Rotary. Renowned national Rotary leader Garbis DerYeghian will introduce Dr. Hagelin and an impressive panel of speakers, including Peter L. Salk, M.D., biomedical researcher and son of Dr. Jonas Salk; David Edwards, Ph.D., professor of government at the University of Texas at Austin and one of America’s foremost political scientists; Colonel Brian Rees, M.D., physician and commander of the 349th General Hospital in Los Angeles; and Robert Brown, successful entrepreneur and business consultant. The conference is being coordinated by Julia Busch, Dr. Hagelin’s executive assistant at the Institute.

Last December, Dr. Hagelin was a featured speaker for over 1000 participants at the Prophets Conference in Palm Springs, California—the highest-level gathering of progressive thinkers in the world. His presentation on “Quantum Politics: Science, Consciousness and the Future of Government” received a thunderous ovation, and the videotape of his talk became the top-selling item at the conference. (You can order your copy online for $12 at www.greatmystery.org/palmspringsaudiotapes.html.)

Dr. Hagelin has also given many other featured presentations nationwide recently, including

  • “Is Consciousness Unified?—A Field Theorist’s Perspective” at the Fifth International Conference on Science and Consciousness in Albuquerque;
  • “Consciousness, the Unified Field, and the Future of Health Care” at the Otto Schmidt Symposium on Consciousness Research, held at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing;
  • “The Neurophysiology of Enlightenment: Scientific Discovery of Higher States of Consciousness” at the Altered States Conference in Albuquerque.
